Iran actor to appear in a French movie

Iranian actor and director Peyman Maadi is set to roll in a French film project soon after his latest appearance in the Hollywood film ‘6 Underground’.

Iran award-winner actor told press that he is currently playing a role in the big-budget action film ‘6 Underground’ by American filmmaker Michael Bay. He will then join a new film project to be shot in Paris.

Maadi did not elaborate on the details to his future appearance adding that the screenplay is the most important criterion for him to star in a movie rather than simply being a foreign-language film project.

“I enjoy playing in Iranian films more because local stories are more interesting and relatable,” he said.

The Iranian actor, who has played in several Hollywood films so far, said “the Iranians gladly receive me in foreign-language films but they are very reactive to my choices. A good choice brings respect and popularity among people; and that is the reason I have refused to appear in some non-Iranian film projects.”

He also added that he is currently writing a screenplay for an Iran-Turkey film production.

Maadi has been awarded Best Director at 2018 Bogazici Film Festival in Turkey for his film 'Bomb a Love Story'.

Maadi is also a Berlin Silver Bear Best Actor winner for Asghar Farhadi’s Oscar-winning ‘A Separation’.
